Social Media and Visual Communications

In my role at the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), I provided comprehensive design support to various teams, enhancing their visual communications for both internal and external audiences. My work spanned multiple projects, including:

  • Special Education Team Support: Designed the Inclusionary Practices Technical Assistance Network (IPTN) banner for a conference, showcasing OSPI's commitment to inclusive education.
  • Human Resources Team Collaboration: Created a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) advertisement for a conference, highlighting OSPI's values and recruitment efforts.
  • Webinar Graphics: Developed engaging visual materials to support various online educational sessions, improving audience engagement and information retention.
  • Child Nutrition Team Banners: Designed multiple banners to promote nutritional programs and initiatives, supporting OSPI's goal of providing access to nutritious meals for all students.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Worked closely with program members across different departments to understand and meet their specific design needs.

My content development process involved:

  • Initial consultations with team members to understand project goals and requirements
  • Creating draft designs using tools like Canva and Adobe Illustrator
  • Researching and determining appropriate sizing specifications for various print and digital formats
  • Iterating designs based on feedback and ensuring print-readiness

This work contributed to OSPI's mission of supporting educational equity and preparing students for postsecondary pathways, careers, and civic engagement. It also demonstrated my ability to translate complex educational concepts into visually appealing and informative designs for social media, while adhering to organizational branding and messaging guidelines.

Through these projects, I honed my skills in visual communication, stakeholder collaboration, and project management within the education sector.
